Drafting Business Descriptions for Internet Marketing

Frequently the need arises to compose a business description. When preparing to write such a piece, consider the site to which you posting and it users. Slant your narrative toward that audience.  Here are some guidelines to consider that increase its value as a marketing tool:

* Your company’s name should appear often, at least 3 or 4 times within the body of the description. This repetition optimize the listing for search engines and helps to increase chances that potential customers can and will find your description, then your business page.

* Include any slogan, phrase or buzz words associated with your company’s identity.

* Naturally, you should describe what your business has to offer and identify any key products or services.

* Include a statement about how your business is different or unique from other similar ones. Price is not compelling when a user is trying to learn about your business.

* Mention how long your business has been in operation and/or professional associations to which it belongs; these facts tend to garner user confidence.

* The description should be inviting and informative enough to entice readers to investigate your company and its business further. That is, click on your link.

* There is no optimum length for a business description; while short is okay (50 words), the length should not exceed a quick read (under 200 words).

Do not draft the summary once and forget it. Creativity over time outshines a fleeting moment of inspiration. Revisit it; tweak and re-tweak it to perfection.
